A Secret Food Society is a fun and unique way to introduce Haligonians to new cuisines and a great and innovative way for local Chefs and local food suppliers to showcase their skills and promote their businesses. Members of the Society - Secret Foodies - will pay a modest monthly fee (intended to cover costs). Once per month - for example, on the third Thursday of each month - Secret Foodies will receive a text message or email, shortly beforehand, informing them of the secret location for that month's secret gathering (it could be a restaurant, rented venue or another secret foodie's home - depending on the size of the Society). Secret Foodies will not know beforehand what they will be eating (inquiries as to dietary restrictions will be made when a Secret Foodie signs up for membership). It is suggested that Secret Foodies arrive in disguise to support the mystery and intrigue of gatherings. The Society will work with local Chefs and food providers to showcase the great food Halifax has to offer. Secret Gatherings will also have themes that distinguish the Gatherings from other dining experiences. For example, a Gathering may showcase esoteric ingredients - such as Kangaroo meat - or could be structured like an Iron Chef challenge where the Chef is asked to feature an ingredient in every course. Chefs will be asked to interact with the Society at dinners. For example, Chefs may want to discuss and explain their creations, the inspiration behind it, etc. Chefs may also want to offer cooking lessons or tips. Of course, they will also have the opportunity to promote their business. While the Secret Halifax Food Society will rely on mystery and intrigue to keep members on the edge of their seat, its existence will be anything but secret; it will be the talk of the town and open to anyone interested in exploring great food! As an ecumenical minister/ pastor and spiritual care practitioner/multi-faith chaplain with Koinonia Baptist Church wanting to spread awesomenisity in my area and through the world. I have the most awesome idea. I believe it meets your awesome criteria because it can be use it to change the world as well as do something silly that will put a smile on peoples’ faces introduce something wild and crazy that no one has ever thought of before. An Awesome Wedding Gazebo on my property@ 2410 St Margaret’s Bay Road in Timberlea, Nova Scotia where there are choices for the gazebo’s location and also ample room for parking. In my ministry I have married many same gender couples as well as heterosexual couples. Many who come here with no real venue or guests just themselves and their witnesses. I strive to make their day as meaningful as possible by blending their traditions and visions for their special day so they can economically have their wedding dreams come true. I also perform Child Blessings with just the child, parents, god-parents, I offer Spiritual Care to folk on a one on one basis over a cup of coffee or tea ( I call it Café Koinonia) I believe my Awesome idea is so user friendly that I can even provide Las Vegas type drive thru weddings for those couples with big dreams but significantly smaller budgets for their special day. These are options at the Awesome Wedding Gazebo for those of God’s Creation who are more than marginalized in our communities world wide. Such a venue also becomes a choice with dignity and grace in difficult economic times. It can be named AWESOME GAZEBO in promotion of Awesome Halifax as I live on the old # 3 Highway where traffic and advertising potential are significant. Grow this food for soup kitchens and school cafeterias. Feed the children. Or sell cheaply at markets, we can use the compost we make from collection of green bins. Start community gardens, teach importance of eating healthy to younger generation, involve them. Why do we grass areas for people to run dogs, we need gardens. Grass is useless it needs city workers to mow and fertilize etc. useless and endangers environment, wastes resources such as gas and oil. We are now in the planning and growth process of erecting new large infrastructures in Halifax, the library for example, we need to add gardening on roofs to our plans for urban development. My idea is importance for sustainable of our planet. Also Feb 29 is my birthday.
